Reportage on a Building Rehabilitation

Project Details

Client Context

Keria is a key player in architectural transformation, specializing in the rehabilitation of existing buildings with strong potential. Their approach: rethinking the use of unique spaces while balancing respect for their original character with adaptation to contemporary needs.

We were commissioned to visually document one of their projects: the Constantinople building, recently renovated in Paris. The reportage aimed to provide both a comprehensive and sensitive overview of the space, highlighting interior design choices and exterior architecture.

Challenges Encountered

  • Limited accessible angles of the building within its immediate urban environment.
  • Showcasing interior spaces already partially in use, without disturbing occupants.
  • Adapting to changing ambient light, without relying on artificial setups or staging.

Solutions Provided

  • Contextual architectural photography: careful framing to situate the building in its environment while emphasizing its façade and urban integration.
  • Discreet integration of usage: subtle inclusion of people and furniture to underline functionality without distracting from the architectural design.
  • Interior atmosphere treatment: balancing tones and lighting to faithfully capture the mood and character of the space.

Let’s discuss

Architectural photography in Paris plays a key role in highlighting urban rehabilitation projects. Documenting a site like the Constantinople building requires an approach that respects both the architectural vision and the urban context in which it exists. When it comes to reinventing existing buildings, photography becomes an essential tool for conveying a project’s aesthetic, functional, and technical choices. At Rétines, we support agencies like Keria in producing clean and precise visuals intended for communication, tenders, or project archiving. Conducting an architectural photo reportage involves working with the constraints of the site, the lighting, and the everyday use of the spaces. This requires particular attention to framing, verticality, and the management of volumes and perspectives. Our images aim to showcase the transformation of spaces without artifices: capturing reality, simply. A rehabilitated building is not a blank page, but a continuing story — and our mission is to make that story readable, in images.
