A Graphic Studio and Design Workshop: Superterrain

Founded in 2014 in Nantes, Superterrain is a graphic design studio that develops a unique approach combining storytelling, typography, art, and visual culture. The studio was born from the collaboration of several designers eager to explore the boundaries between disciplines, freeing themselves from the traditional codes of commercial graphic design.

Their approach is marked by an experimental and artisanal aesthetic. Superterrain creates a variety of projects: visual identities, editorial objects (books, posters, catalogs), original typographies, signage, graphic installations, and scenographies. Their style is recognizable by its often offbeat tone, a strong preference for manual printing, and bold typographic composition.

Collaborations rooted in cultural and institutional sectors

Superterrain regularly works with cultural institutions, universities, and public organizations. Their clients include Le Voyage à Nantes, Frac Normandie, University Rennes 2, Lyon Library, and the International Design Biennale Saint-Étienne. These collaborations demonstrate their ability to adapt their creative approach to diverse challenges while maintaining a strong visual personality.

The studio is also very active in the independent graphic design scene, participating in exhibitions, artist residencies, conferences, and workshops at art and design schools. This involvement strengthens their position as an authorial studio, both locally rooted and connected to the international contemporary design networks.

A tailor-made graphic language

What defines Superterrain is their constant desire to invent visual languages specific to each project. Every creation is conceived as a narrative system, with particular attention to typography, visual rhythm, and meaning. The studio stands out for its ability to propose graphic solutions that tell stories, provoke thought, and surprise.
